Step back in time at the Michigamme Museum and discover the rich history of Michigamme Township and the surrounding Upper Peninsula. Featuring exhibits on logging, mining, the famous “Anatomy of a Murder” case, the historic Moose Lift, and a beautifully preserved 1900 American LaFrance steam fire engine, the museum offers visitors a unique look into more than 125 years of local history, culture, and community heritage.

The Michigamme Historical Museum has exhibits that tell the story of the community. The museum has a collection of over 125 years of history through artifacts, antiques, and memorabilia.

Price

There is no admission fee to visit. However, if you wish to support the museum, donations are accepted, and memorials are available

Donations and Fundraising

Michigamme Museum: The museum accepts deposit bottles and cans, which can be placed in the bins under the awning near the north door of the Township Hall.

In 2023, the Museum Board created a non-profit corporation called Friends of the Michigamme Community. The corporation is organized to raise funds for charitable purposes to benefit the people of Michigamme Township through fundraising events, donations, and gifts.

Donations need to be directed to this new corporation for the Museum, Library, Parks, and any other fundraising activities, non-exclusively.

Donations need to be made out to Friends of the Michigamme Community with the appropriate fundraising activity noted on the memo line of the check.
